Alert message

Scenario

A traveler is in an airport waiting for the last leg of a flight home when their flight gets abruptly cancelled due to bad weather.

Write a message from the airline app notifying them of the cancellation and what they need to do next.

Challenge

Numerous obstacles came up during this project:

1. My first version used the word ‘inclement weather’ which did not localize well.

2. I didn’t have access to up-to-date screenshots of American Airline’s in-app alerts, so I had to imagine what they would be like.

3. The language used in American Airline’s text message alerts always had to restate the person’s flight number, departure time, and location so I had to keep this information in my alert even if it was long.

Solution

Without access to American Airline’s current rebooking procedures, I had to base my knowledge of what they did, and thus what I should write, on previous texts and email messages I found online.

This project was workshopped in my Content Design course and this is the final product.
